An Evening of Female Empowerment with Champion Skipper Tracy Edwards MBE

Maiden finishing in Ft Lauderdale

Tuesday 14 June

6.30pm – 8.30pm

In 1989, Tracy shot to fame skippering the first all-female crew sailing around the world racing Maiden in the Whitbread Round the World Race. Maiden won two legs of the race and came second overall – the best result for a British boat since 1977, a record which still stands today.

Tracy will explain how this voyage has since inspired a generation of women as she became the first woman to be awarded the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year Trophy as well as an MBE for services to sailing.

Following her incredible achievement, Tracy has dedicated her life to women’s rights and empowering girls to reach their full potential.

With a drinks reception starting at 6.30pm, her talk will commence at 7pm where she will be sharing all the thrills and spills of round the world racing and her experience of being a woman in a man’s world.
